The Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026, enforced from April 1, 2026, replace the 2016 regulations to strengthen India’s waste management framework with a focus on circular economy principles. Key features include mandatory four-stream segregation, stricter accountability for bulk generators, and a centralized online tracking portal for compliance.

District Emergency Response Sanitation Unit :

A dedicated emergency helpline (14420) is operational in Khowai District enable citizens to register complaints regarding unauthorized solid Waste transportation illegal dumping and other violations of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
